Art 2 students hand built ceramic houses using the slab technique. Students were encouraged to think outside the box and create a whimsical, unusual, or cartoon-like house! After the first firing, students glazed their houses and then they were fired again, making them complete!
The purpose of this blog is to display artwork created by the talented students who make up the OCS High School Art Program. God has given us the ability to create and these students do it well!

Art 1: Graffiti and Notan Art
After studying the Element of Art Shape, students took an in-depth look at the controversial world of graffiti and street art, particularly between Banksy and the late Robbo. Using organic (or free form) shapes, students created their own, legal graffiti.

Notan Art
Our next studied element was Space. We studied both positive and negative space and discovered Notan Art, which is an art form that emphasis the relationship with light and dark, or positive and negative space. Starting with a solid 4"x4" square, students created their own Notan Art!
